Description راحت تتذكّر كيف كانت (...) تعنى بشكلها وهندامها، وتتحضّر لعودته. وكيف كانت تصمّم على أن تبدو له، في حال رجوعه، على أفضل حال. كانت تريد أن تعوّض عليه ما يمكن أن يكون تعرّض له من إهانات أو تعذيب أو حتّى من إذلال السجن وحسب. تتخيّله عائداً بلحية مهملة وشعر طويل لم تتح له فرصة العناية بهما في سجنه، وتفترض أنّه سيكون بأمسّ الحاجة إلى الاستحمام، هو الحريص على نظافته وأناقته. ترى نفسها وهي تساعده على ذلك، ثمّ تعدّ له الطعام والكأس، ثمّ عندما يخلو لهما الجوّ، بعد انفضاض مجلس الزوّار المهنّئين بالسلامة، تجلس بقربه، تجعله يستلقي على الكنبة الطويلة في غرفة الجلوس أو على السرير في غرفة النوم، ورأسه في حضنها، تمرّ بيدها على شعره ووجهه وكتفيه وصدره، تأخذ خدّيه وذقنه بجمع كفّيها، تنحني عليه، تقبّله. تتفحّص جسمه من آثار أيّ أذىً أو تعذيب. تسمعه الكلمات الجميلة العذبة تداوي بها جراحات نفسه العميقة، قبل أن تأوي معه إلى فراشهما وترتمي هي على صدره، باكية من فرح أو من قهر، لا تدري. تفرّغ من قلبها كلّ ما عانته بدورها من قلق الانتظار. Biographical note جان هاشم — كاتب ومترجم لبناني (مواليد زغرتا، عام 1953). عمل في مجال التدريس بعد نيله إجازة في اللغة العربيّة وآدابها والأدب المقارن من جامعة القدّيس يوسف، معهد الآداب الشرقيّة في بيروت. نقل من الفرنسيّة إلى العربيّة عدداً من المؤلّفات لكتّاب فرنسيّين ولبنانيّين، وكتب مقالات نقديّة أدبيّة في بعض الصّحف اللبنانيّة. «خيمة مروى» هي روايته الأولى عن دار نوفل والثانية بعد «تَلّة المَلّاح» (2014).-She vividly recalled how she used to meticulously tend to her appearance and attire, preparing herself for his return. She was determined to look her best if he were to come back. She wanted to compensate him for any insults, suffering, or the mere humiliation he might have endured during his time in prison. She imagined him returning with an unkempt beard and overgrown hair, untouched during his confinement, and she assumed he would be in dire need of a revitalizing shower, considering how keen he was on cleanliness and elegance. She envisioned herself helping him with that. Then, she diligently prepares a meal and a drink for him. And once they are alone, after the well-wishers who would have come to congratulate him on his safe return depart, she draws close to him. She encourages him to lie down on the long couch in the living room or the bed in the bedroom, resting his head on her lap. She gently runs her fingers through his hair and tenderly caresses his face, shoulders, and chest. She holds his cheeks and chin in her hands, leaning over him to plant kisses. She carefully inspects his body for any signs of harm or torture. She showers him with her beautiful and soothing words, using them to mend the deep wounds of his soul. Eventually, they retire to bed, and she nestles on his chest, shedding tears, not quite certain if they flowed from joy or frustration. She would finally empty her heart of all the anxiety she had endured while waiting.
