Biographical note مواليد بيروت، 1960. من أبرز الروائيّين اللبنانيّين الذين يكتبون بالفرنسيّة. يدرّس الآداب الفرنسيّة في جامعة القدّيس يوسف ببيروت، وهو رئيس جمعيّة «بيت الكتّاب» منذ عام 2012. في رصيده ستّ روايات تُرجمت إلى عدّة لغات. صدر له عن دار نوفل «سيّد المرصد الأخير»، و«فيلّا النساء» الحائزة جائزة جان جيونو الكبرى (2015) في فرنسا.-Alexander Haik leads a happy and contented life. As a textile merchant, he holds complete control over his factory, lands, and family. Despite the gathering clouds in the sky of Lebanon during the mid-1960s, and the ongoing fights between his sister Mado and his wife Marie, as well as his beloved daughter Karen, Alexander remains unaffected. As for his successor, time is not a concern. When the time comes, he will choose between Nicolas, his eldest son who has no doubts about life or himself, and Harith, the youngest son who is passionate about books and adventures. Sitting on the sunny terrace of the family villa, which is where he spends most of his time, the narrator, who is Alexander's driver and entrusted with his secrets, shares a period of timeduring which he lived with him and observed him. It was a golden era that seemed to shine endlessly. However, life's circumstances will disrupt this world that everyone believed would continue indefinitely, and women will take the lead in managing the household.
